Low Back Pain Rehabilitation

Are You Experiencing Back Pain?

Back Pain is one of the most common medical complaints among adults in the United States. Consider that:

  • 8 out of 10 Americans have experienced back pain.
  • This condition accounts for more lost work hours than any other type of occupational injury.
  • Back Pain is also the most frequent cause of activity limitations in individuals under the age of 45.
  • Back Problems can affect everyone. In fact, statistics show that most people will have back problems at least once in their lifetime.

The Cause

Clinical studies show there are a number of reasons why people experience low back problems. These include:

  • Weak Back and Abdominal Muscles
  • Lack of Flexibility in Certain Muscle Groups
  • Incorrect Lifting, Bending, Sitting or Standing
  • Misalignment of the Spine
  • Structural Abnormalities
  • Infrequent Exercise
  • Excessive Weight
  • Poor Posture
  • And More

A lot of how we function every day is due to the hard work and support of our back and spine. Excessive weight, bad postures, undue movements, improper weight lifting and other kinds of trauma may stress the spine and make you more susceptible to injury. Everyday activities that one takes for granted may become painful, limited or both. The result may be limitation in one's ability to sit, walk, or perform activities of daily living.

Most individuals experience some degree of back pain. Unfortunately, one of the best predictors of future pain is prior pain. Back symptoms tend to recur. To prevent recurrence, you must receive proper treatment, education, and conditioning of your back-supporting muscles.
